Perfectly Pear-ed

Although we are generally wine (me) and beer (Jim) drinkers, we do try to kick up our cocktail game a bit on the weekends and have fun with some seasonal flavors.  Nothing elevates an evening like a specialty cocktail, especially to kick off the holiday season.  With the Vanilla Bean salted rim, this one has Thanksgiving all over it! Don’t miss all of our favorite Thanksgiving Salts - read the details HERE.

INGREDIENTS:

*You will need a cocktail shaker

This makes just 2 cocktails, so feel free to double, triple or even quadruple for a full batch! You won’t be sorry. Simple syrup will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

  • 2 oz Bourbon

  • 2 oz Pear Nectar or Juice

  • Juice of 1 Lemon

  • Sparkling Wine to taste for the finish. Ginger Beer works as well.

  • 1 oz Ginger Honey simple syrup:

- 1/4 cup Honey

- 1/4 cup Water

- 1 1/2 Tsp chopped Ginger

  • Alaska Pure Vanilla Bean Sea Salt for rimming

  • Garnish of choice : we use a Lemon twist, but Crystalized Ginger with a slice of Pear or Lemon wedges all work beautifully.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Make the Simple Syrup: Combine honey, water and ginger in a small sauce pan, bring to a simmer until honey dissolves. Let cool. Strain out solids. Feel free to double or triple this and refrigerate for your future cocktails!

  2. Make the Cocktail: Combine bourbon, pear juice, lemon juice and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until chilled.

  3. Use lemon wedge to prep the rim for salt.  Put AK Pure sea salt in a saucer or small plate and rim glass with salt.

  4. Pour into glass and top with sparkling wine or ginger beer.   Or if you prefer, pour over ice.  Garnish and ENJOY!
